Winter Diary 1

The first snow has fallen just last week and Leicester is currently resting beneath a powdery blanket of snow, and I am officially in a wintery mode. So I am constantly in pursuit of discovering new small treats (or returning to my favourites).

Although my default mode this winter is to spend more time indoors hibernating but I do occasionally peel myself away for various dates with friends and trips to the cosiest cafes. After having spent long hours playing in the snow last week, me and the girls had hot beverages at Oasis. Now I try not to advocate the practice of forgoing proper food in favour of sugar as a general rule, but sometimes it's more fun to have desserts for lunch.

Not to beat a dead horse or anything, but I'm still a bit challenged when it comes to weather appropriate dressing. I try. Really. I just don't like being told what to do by mother nature.

Hope you all had a good winter break :)
Good night moon

Lincolnshire Diary

It really hurts me to write this one up as I am definitely experiencing post winter-break blues! I've been meaning to write this a while ago before the New Years so apologies for being a delinquent, life has gotten in the way over the last couple of weeks.

Towards the end of December I spent a few days at a family friend's humble abode in the charming area of Rutland-which reminded me a lot of Rhone-Alpes (beautiful side of France that we passed through during our last family road trip to Italy). Not far from Oakham is a town called Stamford in Lincolnshire which is really something that looks out of an English fairytale with its medieval buildings.  I have to admit, I'm not particularly partial to the breed. Historic they may be, but they are so often shabby and well.. old. But not in Stamford. The town is essentially a perfectly manicured outdoor shopping and eating strip. Or maybe I'm biased since I found out that Pride and Prejudice was filmed there hehehe

I don't think my camera could do justice to all the places and sceneries I saw in Lincolnshire :(

Bicester trip

I grew up liking fancy things that I can't afford and because of that I have a serious designer weakness. But since I have the most basic allowance which is somewhat at odds with my Upper East Side taste, I've rather become more skilled at hunting for designer pieces at bargainous sale prices. Oui I finally went to Bicester!! I had high hopes that I would end the day laden with shopping bags and...

Well I was right. OH and Mu'izz was my partner in crime during the shopping trip :)

The initial plan was to get just a bag from Prada. Me being me, started at the Kate Spade outlet where I couldn't justify its gorgeous red tarrytown quinn bag when I knew I had a priority. Then we popped in D&G, Armani, Ralph Lauren (where we both got ourselves some souvenirs), Prada, Alexander Mc Queen, Michael Kors and Tommy Hilfiger. After getting the Prada bag I got greedy and eventually bought the tarrytown bag from Kate Spade.

This place is literally overflowing with bargains for designer suckers with a budget like me. It could be a hit and miss but it all depends on your luck. I definitely am contented with my scores and I'm not going to regret buying the Kate Spade bag (for now). We finished off our day by filling in our hungry stomach with pitch perfect culinary experience of Thai food at Busaba Eathai although my tastebuds are still homesick :(

Mr Fancy Pants here decided to steal my limelight... but it's cool he doesn't sleep with a Prada bag hehe

ps: I wish essay writing is just as easy as blogging.

Petite chimie d'une tasse de thé.

What better way to spend your afternoon in London like a Parisienne wannabe chick in Laduree? This oasis of French patisserie perfection is the closest challenge I will receive to abandoning my Asian thrift gene. I decided to give myself a try with the macarons and I couldn't get enough of the sea salt caramel! This little treasure tucked in Harrods is definitely an ideal spot to get your sugar fix.

Believe the hype and get a cute box to take home to remind you.

Notting Hill

Lately I've been pretending that lectures, case readings and essay writings never factor into my current life since the start of the term break. And here I am back from London in my tiny cupcake sized room in Leicester attempting to study.. oh but to no avail.

So just this Monday I dragged 2 of my good friends for a rummage along Portobello Road. In all its style-savvy glory, London is home to some of the most exciting antiques dealers in the country and Portobello Road is the first pitstop for vintage suckers. I didn't choose to go there for some vintage shopping but I was craving for a preppy uniform dress up (and then it just struck me how much that preppy sensibility has permeated my wardrobe).

Look how cute your big sister is Iqah hehehe

Also dressing up like a stereotypical Cambridge student was Muizz who threw in the boat hat for good measure.

Strolling the mansion lined streets of Notting Hill & dreaming of living in a a pastel house with a glossy front door

It’s easy to dismiss Notting Hill as a cliché but its ongoing appeal is clear to see. It cheerfully lends itself as a beautiful backdrop for instagram photos hehe.. I hope you all had a wonderful December break. Happy New Years :)

Bonne année 2013 tout le monde! Better late than never.

So here's a quickie post; I'd just like to wish everyone a very happy new year! I hope 2012 was an amazing year filled with great memories because it certainly wasn't for me. But looking back, there were experiences that had occurred which gave me (a) reason(s) to smile. Despite moving back home. That was definitely one of the downfall to my 2012... seriously.

Anyway, I ended my 2012 in bravery, I scratched "Cut your hair short!" off my 2012 resolution list. Keep in mind that you are limited with hairstyles when it comes to short hair. (insert sad face) Still no regrets whatsoever! HOWEVER you don't need a new year to make changes in your life.

I'm hoping this year will start off smoothly. Fingers crossed!!!
Have a good year ahead lovelies!
