Style profile {Nadyne}

For a bona fide fashionista mother who is more accustomed to singing Manolo Blahnik's praises than singing lullabies comes along a daughter who looks like she will grow up into becoming the fictitious Rebecca Bloomwood. And this mother that I'm referring to is none other but my aunty, Babu Har who is a Stuart Weitzman brigade with one arm toting a designer bag and the other toting her precious daughter, Nadyne.

Only a year and a month old, Nadyne is already a proud owner of 5 handbags and a LV Speedy bag. Yes, I know what you guys are thinking but she has not used it obviously. (And I might have borrowed it once or twice.) Her wardrobe veers towards Upper East preppy, favouring navy cropped blazers, tulle dresses and adorable ballet flats.

Quirky is another side of Nadyne, favouring this gorgeous Bubble Girls by Sebastian Gunawan batik blazer which she would pair it off with her sleveless orange cut-out dress and her glittery flats to make her feet look like tiny presents.

This one is for you Nadyne. Missing you little gem.. We will see you in a week!

GET READY WITH ME {WORK}

It seems to be a universal truth amongst women that we love having a peek inside other women's wardrobe, beauty cabinets and handbags. It is nothing short of nosiness, I just love seeing what others use, how they would organise their things and what it is they tote around with them each day. So in the spirit of sartorial nosiness, here are a few things that I've been using under heavy rotation, things you can find tucked inside my tote bag along with my ootd for work today:

On my face:
Face Shop BB cream
L'Occitane Angelica toner
Benefit Porefessional Primer
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals Foundation
Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick
Bobbi Brown Nespresso eyeshadow for the brows

 For work it seems more fitting to use an oversized tote bags like my Furla but for today I've chosen my Steve Madden  since I have less things to carry.

Not pictured but always present are my coin purse, Longchamp make up bag that I use as my pencil case, L'occitane toiletries bag to store my Revlon concealer for touch ups, oil blotter and my trusty MAC lipstick (but of course there are always 2 other lipsticks in there any time, because a girl never knows when a red lip may suddenly be required).
Of course it is essentially unnecessary to be dressing up for long hours office work pursuits but I always get a smug of satisfaction out of prancing around the photocopy room in lipstick and my sky-high wedges. I find no fault in dressing up for work. As long as it doesn't take you eons to get ready!

{BISOUS}

He wants to say "I love you"
but keeps it to "good night"
because love would mean some falling
and she is afraid of heights.

Never would I ever imagine myself being in the position of missing someone so badly that everyone else just starts looking like that particular person you miss :(

Mr is still in the UK as he is graduating tomorrow so that makes 4 weeks since we last saw each other ergo, we have another less than 3 weeks of this (bitter-sweet) torture. Skype dates have almost become a routine which is what we are trying to avoid so Mr had a special way of surprising me just the other day:
+ a crazy influx of random videos and a beautiful cover to my favourite song
Swoon,
ps: guess how much I miss you?
pps: SORRY FOR THIS UBER CRINGE WORTHY POST

The Bolder the Better

You can never go wrong with a pair of printed pants. There is nothing more summery than completing a bold summer outfit by combining a simple yet bright yellow blouse over these babies. This high contrast combination makes it easy to embrace the look in a big way or as an accent. So kickstart your summer style with a daring look. Occasionally electric neon and pretty pastel tops work best with these crazy bottoms, plus they translate to looks that are chic and effortless.

If you want a more casual look, pair up with some awesome selipar jepun. (just kidding- but not really!)
Oh remember don't go bare - add some perk-me-up necklace for a retro feel. Printed pants could very well be a staple piece to every woman's wardrobe as you can transition a look that you've pulled off in the daytime for your lunch date with your girlfriends into a movie date night kind of look by omitting the crop top you've worn earlier to a very romantic blouse.

OOTD

stay bold,

Sweet treats

Take any girl my age and ask for her definition of sweet treats. Some may speak of decadent vices in the form of Laduree assorted macarons of every flavour there is. Whereas I would go for a huge wardrobe of gorgeous bags and shoes. And what would be a huge sweet treat for me is the day that babu would finally say, "yes you can use any of my bags."

Knowing how babu really is, she would never say such sweet things. Only once was I allowed to use one bag from her wardrobe but I didn't take the opportunity because the bag didn't "fit" the occasion. Question: since when do bag sizes matter?

Now the question as to why babu would not let me use her bags is not because she doesn't trust me with things (truthfully no one should ever trust me with their things) but because I don't deserve to flaunt bags that cost more than my rent. Although, most of the time I have the vilest ideas of sneaking out without her noticing that her Chanels are missing. But I guess this is a lesson for me. She never actually buys these bags but they are all gifts from babah since she is making a good job in keeping all of us grounded.

I guess these bags are the special kind of sweet treats. And like every sweet treats, they taste better when you have waited long enough or saved enough to pay your rent!

On a side note, I had a quick lunch at Fish & Co followed by tea at Matadoe with the 2 dapper friends of mine, Mu'izz and Aqil. Coincidentally, all three of us were wearing chinos of the same colour (great minds think alike!). Change of rules: On Tuesdays, we wear beige now.

much love,

Canadians for a day

A quick hello and an update of me and Amal R's lunch date at Bistro Chez Fio. Both of us had some real Canadian business on our plates. We started off with a poutine which is just a fancy Canadian way of saying french fries with gravy. I had the Bistro burger whereas Amal had the most expensive meal on the menu - the Salmon burger. RIDICULOUS! good thing she finished it all hehe

As for our outfits, Amal has put up a video of what we wore on our date. Thanks mal!

xx,

Food diary

In between days and days of not doing anything useful at home, I find myself mostly eating out and about in Brunei. On the very first day I arrived my parents brought me out for sushi and  when you haven't seen a whole table clustered with plates of sushi and unagi for 9 months, there's no better reason to not succumb into gluttony.

Last weekend, we had family-friends visiting us all the way from Kuching. We brought them to our favourite sushi place, Kaizen Waterfront which allows a fabulous view of the kampung ayer. Jokes were exchanged over our dinner table and the night was ended with Uncle Azmi sharing us how babah tried so hard to impress babu when they first started dating (in light of babah having the need to tell everyone about Mr).

Dinner attire: fancy dinner calls for a pair of fancy pants from H&M and my favourite embellished clutch from Accessorize that I rarely go out with!

The day before I had a short catch up session over tea + mud cakes with my favourite girls, Zirah and Fifah at Matadoe. I so did not tell these girls to pose :p

Ending this post with a beautiful laksa:

Hungry,
