Bloggers Love Fashion Week '15

A lot has asked me about my experience during Bloggers Love Fashion Week- “How was it?” “Did you fall?” “Was it fun?” “What did you wear?” It was great. No, I didn't fall, thankfully. Yes, it was fun. And something comfortable.
Held in a dated studio at Shoreditch, London, BLFW was organised by the lovely Danielle from the Bloggers Love Hub. It’s back with its third season, and although it was a two-day event, I could only make it to Wednesday’s tea party themed event. I thought the area seemed quite dodgy, not where you expect a fashion event to be located. It wasn’t exactly the most fashionable district. Despite that, the studio gave the perfect ambiance: intimacy. Some would disagree due to the overcrowding but I like the fact that there were personal interactions between brands and bloggers which has a much greater impact.

Models were asked to arrive early, so I got the chance to see brands set up their stations and explore the event before it got busy. There weren’t any perks of being a VIB (very important blogger) and a model because by the time the fashion show ended most of the gifts were gifted by other bloggers. Don't worry I didn't go home empty handed, my gifts consisted of Umberto Giannini Glam Hair spray and Frizzi serum, two Timeless Truth Bio Celllose masks, and Slendertoxtea teabags, acai berry slender shake and slender patch. Also goodies included St Kitts Herbery lotion and perfume, and So-cosmetics body spray. The goodies were far better than LFWend goodies.

My makeup was done by bubbly 18 year old Laurr and I worked with three friendly models, Anita, Misha and Rosemary. Three designers, Cecille London, Joe Browns and LizaVeta, showcased their SS15 looks and I was delighted to walk down the runway in 3 outfits per brand. Below is a short video I created on my catwalk in the outfits.
Ever since the beau bought my first Airmax, I’m still trying to invest in the sports luxe trend. I knew I wanted to wear my Airforce since I would be doing a lot of walking around London. My version of cute co-ords combine a 90s-style tube skirt and checked bralet top. Ultra clean, but I added a bold vivid outerwear and an embellished clutch because I’m still in love with prints. Something simplistic turned into a tough edge.

Finally met up with this cutie!
Lastly, the man behind my amazing photos:

The Bloggers Fashion Week Tag

The forthcoming Bloggers Fashion Week has me on edge! It is taking place on Wednesday and Thursday this week, though I am only going on Wednesday where they will be hosting a tea party. How cute! I am beyond excited because 1) it will be my first Bloggers Fashion Week so just like London Fashion Weekend, I really do not know what to expect, 2) meeting new bloggers, which can really be terrifying and 3) I will be modelling for three brands (!!!).

As of now, I can only wait and answer the whimsical questions I was tagged to join, as one of their pre-activities.
1. Are you more of an Alice, a Mad Hatter or a Queen of Hearts?
Alice. My curiosity tends to lead to trouble. I like to think I am a protagonist in every situation that I am in. I am not a ‘foul-tempered’ monarch who’s only sentence is “off with their heads!” and I prefer coffee than tea. And hey, I do not mind wearing the same dress everyday.

2.If you could only take one of your possessions down the rabbit hole, what would it be?
I am always in conflict between my beau or my iPod. I need someone sane who will keep me on my feet from the mad illogical world but I need to take Instagram pictures of Wonderland. I get likes sometimes...

3.If you could choose one Youtuber to have a tea party with who would it be?
TOTHE9S!!! Cassie and Ricci are so inspiring and I would like to master their video editing skills.

4. How would you verbally slay a real life Jabberwocky eg. anxiety, confidence issues etc?
Sing nonsense words and let it die in misery from the annoyance of my high-pitched voice.

5. Which brands would you add to your teapot to create your perfect Bloggers Fashion Week brew?
1 vivid acid tablespoon of River Island, 2 immaculate teaspoon of Missguided and to add sweetness, Nike in white.

OOH so excited for Wednesday to come! I will definitely post my OOTD on Instagram first.

Personal

Before the internet ever existed in my childhood home, we had coffee tables and magazines. I was only in primary school and I was obsessed with crafts and cutting pages from my parents' home-decor magazines. My exposure to art came only about as I started high school where I finally sat for proper lessons to paint and experimented with different medias, and yet until now art has always just been a hobby.

What became very clear was that: I love to be around beautiful things, I paint from time to time, and I am a self-proclaimed arbiter of beauty (with substance, of course). I even get asked a lot if I could post more of my works here and where I get my inspiration from so I'll do a separate post on that in the future :)

Counting the days

In less than 3 weeks time, I will be en route to Spanish's White Island a.k.a Ibiza with a good friend of mine. Forgetting the singularity of Ibiza's party reputation, I've made a couple of mood boards of what I've envisioned Ibiza to look and feel like: tropical, fresh, vibrant, warm and anything but the bubble-soaked parties I've been hearing about. I am seething with excitement and I'm really hoping to finally have my much needed break (maybe rejuvenation is a better word for it) from all the University workload. Packing days are numbereddddd!!

"Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking."

Three days have passed and I am still trying to recover from what LFWeekend had offered me. Some say it is a prestigious occasion so as a first timer attending these sort of events, I did not know what to expect. Of course I was well informed how intimidating fashion can be, I did not need LFWeekend to prove me that. Even though I engaged my Saturday with a maximum of half an hour sleep, I managed to appear jubilant… or so I thought.
In all honesty though, that day could not have started any better than bloggers, photographers and magazine press asking for a photo of me. When you receive positive comments from those who share the same passion as you, it can lift your esteem. Thus, I was super super super duper fortunate to have experienced it, especially with my sister and was astounded by how well the event went overall. It was less nerve-racking and I encountered so many beautiful and unique individuals.

Anyway, there is an ongoing habit I acquired through the years where I provide a theme for my outfit choice. I intended to go for an 80’s look, inspired by none other than Miss Bradshaw (minus the infamous mane). My choice of ensemble consisted of similar shades where it was a play up pastel top-to-toe.
A mix-and-match separates; the mint midi skirt with floral embellishment, giving a classic A-line shape, was paired with a floral blazer. Since UK’s weather is too unpredictable, I wore a white oversized coat all through the event. The only jewellery I had on was this beautiful luminous pink necklace by Heartbead. The simplicity of the necklace was perfect for me. I balanced everything with a metallic clear bag. Does this not remind anyone of the 90’s Versace Supers’ metallic pastel vibe?

London Fashion Weekend Part 1

 (photos by Ainul)

You know when they say a weekend well spent brings a week content? Mere words can't encapsulate exactly how overwhelmed I felt after leaving Somerset House. When Nina contacted me about LFWeekend a few months back I didn't hesitate. On the surface, the energy was so exhilarating and everyone is constantly moving from one session to another. Every blogger would have different experiences to how they felt about LFWend; I've missed one talk that I really wanted to go, met a few interesting souls and I got a flurry of excitement when an amazing look comes out. Although the event is smaller than what the actual LFW is like, it just goes to show how enormous and competitive the fashion industry is.

As far as my outfit du jour goes, I was quite happy with the choice of accessories that Enya Bijoux supplied for me. I chose their "Stella" necklace with a hint of green that sits really well over my embellished blouse. One of my biggest wardrobe dilemma is getting dressed in a chic ensemble just to be covered up in a bulky coat. In my book, when it comes to cold weather, it's what on the outside that counts. Thankfully, ASOS got me covered.

Hat - John Lewis
Blouse - MNG
Duster Coat - ASOS

Special thanks to the two girls sandwiched between me and Iqah: Ainul and Nina! Bruneian bloggers represent hehe
Have a good start of the week!
