The Lake City

These days the mornings and nights have a tendency to bleed into one another and as I've mentioned in my previous entry I AM seeing a lot more dawns than I'm used to. Maybe my body clock is still confused.. But 2 weeks have already passed since I came here! So I have omitted caffeine and started drinking tea back again but it still doesn't work. Therefore this is my last resort; blogging at 1 am.

Lately the occassional July showers are on their vacation possibly in England so the weather has been lovely to have a sugar rush filled picnic. Which is exactly what we had in plan last Thursday. We drove up north to the gorgeous lake city of Lausanne and believe me when I said it was gorgeous. It was. We packed ourselves macarons and chocolates so we really did give ourselves a bit of sugar rush. It was a good day. :)

I even pulled off a weird sartorial tango for the picnic which fits somewhere between a tomato and Madeline.

Iqah channeling her inner Bradshaw. (not fabulous enough)

From Swiss with love

It has been 8 months since I last saw my family all in one piece. So it's good to see them and summer again.

Even until now travel had always been a fraught affair especially when I'm flying off alone. When I knew it was almost a 16 hour journey from Brunei to Geneva I just had to pack 2 different outfits in my hand luggage. So here I am in my own room in Geneva seeing longer evenings than I'm used to. Sigh. I need to sleep soon.

Just this afternoon I was in France... By that I mean grocery shopping in Carrefour (which is only 5 minutes away from our home). I did go to Lyon the other day by car. My dad took all of us for a mini roadtrip and the scenery of Northern France's countryside is just surreal. It's like being in an actual National Geographic wallpaper.. in 3D!

Definitely going back here again.

love,
Amal.

I wish you could just stay little

Photoshop genius award goes to myself (ha-ha) This short post is specially dedicated to my dearest baby sister, Ameerah.

Lovely, you are growing up so fast! At 12, there's not much you can do but I adore how you have matured quicker than anyone else at your age. Oh, I hope you don't grow any taller! Stay beautiful and huggable. When kaka Iqah graduates, insyallah you will have your very own room :)  I wish you a very happy birthday little one. I will always love you.

Lace at its Best

Instead of revising for my biology test, shall I talk about something more fascinating than ecology? As most of you all know the Met Ball had taken place last week on May 7th & I couldn't help but admire the resurgence of lace.
Lily Collins in Valentino
Victoria Justice in Alexander McQueen
Marion Cotillard in Christian Dior
Beyoncé Knowles in Givenchy
Not my cup of tea but BeyoncĂ©'s gown reminds me of Michael Sherard's design back in 1958.
Evening Dress by Michael Sherard
This is my favourite one out of all. Cue in the drum roll please! The most extravagant lace clothing worn from that night was the one and only dashing Marc Jacobs!
Hee :) Okay enough procrastinating.

Bohemian Brighties in Switzerland

Apologies for the lack of updates, though that wouldn't be necessary as no one actually stops by on our blog anyway (and it has been more than a year). Capital El-Oh-El. Time flies so quickly. BUT if anyone was wondering where we were, continue reading my first quick rant.

Bonjour tout le monde, oui, the title says it all! My family recently moved to Geneva, Switzerland not more than six months ago (except for Kaka Amal). I didn't have the slightest clue that we were going to move a bit too soon. Not alone living in Europe! Nevertheless, it was a big change; from a less developed to a more developed country. It was also a hectic move, packing everything until we were left with 400ish boxes to unload afterwards and especially leaving all the people behind... again. Thank god for Facebook and Skype! Geneva is wonderful and beautiful (not to mention expensive). We also rented a cheesecake-like-house near the French border, Carrefour is just five minutes away! :D

First snow

Here's to a fresh new (overdue) beginning!

Did the sun just came out? or did you just smile?

I've always been fond of Carrie Bradshaw from Sex & The City and for every opening credits of the show Carrie never fails to look adorable in her pink tulle skirt. Just the other day my parents took me to Thailand for a day trip and I managed to get my hands on this lovely black knee length tulle skirt. I love how practical this skirt is! I can use it for both formal and casual wear. I'm a happy camper!

Aime moi moins mais aime moi longtemps

What I need to do over the December break is to just soak myself in with some indie music, watch a few French movies and hibernate before going back to Bruland. It's a gloomy cold Thursday today and days like these are always enlightened by a cup of hot milo.
